I grew up in a sweet, small town in the mountains of Virginia in a big family. There are many memories of laughing with my siblings, picking raspberries with my grandfather, the fragrance of whittling birch tree branches, stringing beans on the back porch with my mom and neighbors, listening to my dad strum guitar with friends, walking in hushed snow, sledding down bumpy fields with friends, sunning on a bolder in a field surrounded by buttercups, starring up at maple trees with their bright leaves against the blue sky, the pop of concord grapes straight from the vine, and making arrangements from my mom's flower garden of irises, poppies, peonies, and lilies.
In my art, I am recreating that contented childhood feeling of play, surrounded by loved ones, and basking timelessly in nature.
My public studio is at the Resurrection Artists Collective in Asheville, NC, at 160 Broadway. Visitors are welcome Tuesday through Saturday. I'm there most Thursdays-Saturdays, but especially on first Fridays evenings. Our grand opening is March 7, 2025.
I graduated from Roanoke College with a BS in Art. Since then, I have been painting, drawing, and sculpting.
I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and own Vanover Counseling, Inc., helping people create a life they love.
I live in Black Mountain, NC, with my husband, son, two dogs, and our cat. My daughter, her husband, and their two sons (my adorable grandsons) live close by, as do my cousins, who I love dearly.
I truly appreciate you visiting my site.
